Yeeeeaahyy - TGIF again.
Figured I'd better do a quickie blog here on this dreary, rainy and cold Friday. It's been raining since about 3:00 this morning. This should clean up some of the muddy mess around here.Taking off here about noon, for the weekend to ma and dad's house. Might order some chinese take out from the favorite place - Jues. Made a pact with the boss to stay on the diet this weekend. I'm actually feeling pretty good lately, with the dieting and exercising. Got all the deadline stuff (most of it) done and I'm off. Hey everyone-----have a good weekend!
Blogging puh-jaaging again...
I'm really falling down on the ole blogging job, here it is already Thursday!! Some people must actually like reading my ole cheap blog 'cause I just got a reminder that I forgot Hump day yesterday. Don't know how that happened. Well, planning on a Soprano's marathon this weekend, grilling out and going to the Bay and having a few bloody merries, probably feed the slot machines a little. Not much happening in my boring life socially, went out again with my friends last weekend for a while - had a good time. Went to the pow wow on Saturday, saw a few people from a distance but didn't spend any time socializing. I've kind of been in a 'keep to myself' mood lately, maybe I'm sub-consciously doing some self-reflection or something. I think I've been doing this for a while now, maybe I'm confusing this with just getting old too. Who really knows? All I know is I'm staying out of trouble and being good.Next weekend will be the DFL endorsing convention, looking forward to it. Actually, there is kind of a cute guy I met there but haven't said anything about it until now. Nothing exciting happened like exchanging phone numbers or anything....I think he just enjoys looking at me and talking to me or something. SO, that makes it even more interesting. I'm sure it'll turn out he's married with a whole slew of kids. Saw a few good looking "ones" at the pow wow last weekend too, but for now that's all it'll be for me....eyeing someone from a distance. Still too leery, probably will be for a while.I've really been getting into listening to my mp3 player lately, kind of addicting. I'd rather listen to the music I've chosen than listening to the local d.j. chit chat and laughter over the airwaves. Anaway's (ha ha) that's all for my ole boring blog on this Thursday. Will definetly blog more later...........;)
Wednesday again........??
I must like blogging on hump day or something! I can't believe a whole week's gone by without a blog from me. Time sure does fly though when you get old. Sad to report our basketball team lost, they sure played hard though - gave it their best shot. Tried to talk about it with my daughter's boyfriend, but he was still processing the loss and feeling pretty bad for his former team and his dad the coach. Spent some time with my college niij's - who happen to be sisters. What a crazy time, we laughed so hard talking about old times and just teasing each other in general. I plan on doing this more often with them. I know one thing for sure - a few months back I never planned on getting involved or going anywhere near local politics. Here I was Sunday, spending my entire day at the DFL delegate convention. It was pretty interesting, met a lot of new people and saw a few people I already know. I'm heading to the endorsement convention in a few weeks. I've come to the conclusion, I need to keep myself informed of what's going on in the political world as much as possible. Don't think I'll ever "test the waters" personally or anything, just want to make informed decisions when I go to the polls. Even though I don't personally know the Native woman running for our district senate seat, I thank her for sparking this interest and getting me out to experience something new.I got my Body Shop lotion I ordered from my niece - it's called Vanilla Vanilla - I love this lotion! In the catalog it says "used by Native American women to attract a lover". So, I guess I'll slather that on myself this weekend and head to the pow wow and see if it works!! ha ha just kidding - have to make myself laff once in a while. If it doesn't work, I'll tell her I want to exchange it. ha ha again. She also gave me a little sample of White Musk, I'll order this next. And so, with all of that said.....life is just cruising right along here as fast as possible.
After a break....
I'm baaaaaack.....took a short break there from blogging. Things got a little busy for a while, with work, basketball games and just life in general. Getting back on track here though, started exercising again and getting the old blood sugars under control and I feel gooooood!! This is the height of basketball season here and our home team is winning. These kids are great players, the coach was named coach of the year second year in a row for his section. Waaaay to go coach....Plus...he's Native (and just happens to be the dad of my daughter's boyfriend). The next big game is Friday night, if they win they're headed back to the State tournament and my family will be there! And all of this means that another big season is just around the corner for the Shinaab's back home - Netting season. Anyone got a problem with that? Too bad, because it's been our practice since the beginning of time. I've been doing this since way back when, will even have some new nets to use this year. I love this time of year. Planning on meeting the little sis at the casino tomorrow night for dinner - seafood buffet. I'll try my damndest to not let the money sucking machines get too much of my hard earned $$. It's fun though to do this once in a while. Have a few shingabaaboos at the same time. Well, Niij's - hopefully I'll have time to blog tomorrow if not - Happy Irish Day on Friday. Even though I'm Shinaab, I celebrate this occasion as well in honor of my great grandfather who was an Irishman.
Weekend fun...
I figured I better blog about the weekend before it's already the weekend again. Had a good one, went out briefly Friday night to the downtown pub - had a bowl of soup, a beer, some homemade potato chips (they're the best). We were subjected to this annoying woman laughing - imagine that - she made sure her laugh could be heard over the voices and laughs of everyone else in the entire place!! And this place was filling up with college students. If I would've had a few more shingabaaboo's under my belt, I probably would've shared my feelings with her. But, I kept my cool, I was pretty proud of myself.Stayed in the entire weekend, watched the remaining seasons of Dawson's Creek - from morning until night! Enjoyed it while sipping a few bev's and ate a lot think I had a big bowl of popcorn by myself. After finally taking a shower on Sunday late morning, heard a knock on the door, looked out and there were my daughter's boyfriend's parents! They came to pick up their van the son had left in my driveway. Of course here I am looking as doggy as I possibly could, no makeup, stick straight hair, bottle thick glasses on, and pajama's and bare feet (I think I had on a bra - can't remember - probably not). I also think I scared her husband away, once he realized his son wasn't there he said "Hi and goodbye" then hightailed it down the drive way. She stuck around for some chatting though. Oh well. We had a good laugh. Now, just waiting for the sixth season and then the FINALE of Dawson's Creek. Until then, the next marathon will probably be the Soprano's.
Bleu Sky's Lunch
That's what I'm having for lunch today, Blue Sky's Cobb salad - it's Xcellent. So, I'm just going to blog and eat my salad.
Well, not sure what's happening this weekend - I might have company but she might've gotten side-tracked at home working on campaign materials. If she does "jaunt" (picture that) over this way, she's bringing her Dawson's dvd's and we're having another marathon weekend. Probably sip a few bevvy's and pig out on junk food. If she changes her mind, I'll probably do the same thing by myself. I have a few good movies to watch at home.
I heard that song by Alanis Morrissette (sp?) called "That I would Be Good" - love that song - reminds me of myself. How about that? I downloaded it and put it on my ipod. I always have to try and be good all the time, I've pulled a few stunts in the past few years that either pissed people off or embarrass them. Nothing intentionally mean or anything, just dumb things. Then I get the looks or questions, like "why were you acting like that". I think I've been so reserved most of my life that once in a while I have fun letting my hair down - if you know what I mean. But, I've come to realize that I can still have fun and let my hair down and not make an ass of myself.
Got a compliment the other day from the parents that I'm still processing. First my dad tells me I should've been his son, the other part I'm keeping to myself out of modesty and self-value. But, whether they know it or not, it meant a lot to me.
There, how's that for a Friday blog - my daughter keeps nagging at me to get back to working out, so I'll try to work that in this afternoon. "What you gonna do with all that junk, all that junk inside that trunk......". Go and sweat my butt off on the treadmill while listening to the cool tunes on my mp3.
I think I'll start out by saying Happy Hump Day! Now that the day's almost over for most of us. I haven't been exercising regularly for the past 2 weeks, and can tell the difference. I better get 'crackin' before that ole spare tire sneaks up on me again, maybe go back to my low-carb lifestyle. Did anyone know that tomorrow is Dr. Suess' birthday? To celebrate, my daughter is going up to Ponemah with her elementary ed. class to read to the first graders. Pretty cute uh?Well, not much else is happening hopefully tomorrow will bring some excitement, drama or something.
