This is cool...........
"An Ojbwe Farewell Address:
Oh, this destiny of mine is very difficult here on this pitiful point of land.
Where seldom is heard anything different than the wind blowing on this barren land.
When you have buried me, you are all going to embark to go where I grew up but for me it is my destiny never to see it again.
My relatives you will be leaving me here in this place where no one has lived before.
There is only the sound of the wind blowing over the place where I have been lain.
Well now, I too am going to where our grandfather's have gone to that far off place.
Before I leave my fellow friends, I will shake hands wih you."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know who wrote this, but it's pretty powerful. In our Ojibwe language, the word "goodbye" doesn't exist. In our families, relationships, and friendships we never say good bye. We say Gii-ga-waa-ba-min - see you later.
